Popular Nigerian comedian, actor, and filmmaker Ayo Makun, widely recognized as AY, has officially reacted to ongoing rumours suggesting that he is working towards reconciling with his estranged wife, Mabel Makun. The entertainer, who has been in the spotlight for years due to his successful career and high-profile marriage, strongly denied the speculations, making it clear that such claims are baseless and entirely fabricated.
In a detailed statement released on his official Instagram page, AY described the reports as “false, incessant, and insensitive.” He noted that these stories are not only misleading but also deliberately crafted to manipulate public opinion while driving unnecessary traffic and engagement for gossip blogs and faceless online platforms. According to him, such fabrications are malicious attempts to exploit his private life for sensationalism.

The comedian further clarified that at no point has he ever released or authorised any statement about reconciling with Mabel. He stressed that if he has anything personal to share with the public, he has the platform, audience reach, and credibility to communicate it directly in his own words rather than through unnamed sources or rumour-driven channels. He emphasised that fans should disregard any reports that do not originate from him personally.
Issuing what he described as his final warning, AY declared that he would no longer tolerate false narratives regarding his marriage. He warned that legal action will be taken against individuals or platforms that persist in publishing or circulating defamatory content about him and his family life. According to him, the era of ignoring lies has ended, and the law will now take its course on those who spread misinformation.
“Enough of the lies,” AY firmly stated, adding that he is committed to protecting his peace, reputation, and family from the damaging effects of fabricated stories. He urged members of the public to be more discerning and to resist being misled by clickbait headlines and rumours that hold no truth.

It is worth recalling that AY publicly confirmed in 2023 that his marriage of nearly 20 years with Mabel had come to an end. At that time, the comedian admitted that he made certain mistakes and engaged in compromising actions during the course of the relationship. He openly expressed regret for losing his home, but also noted that moving forward was necessary for both parties. Since then, his private life has been the subject of widespread public interest, further fueling rumours and speculations, which he has now strongly addressed with this latest statement.
