Nigerian investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, has stirred fresh controversy with new allegations against Afrobeats superstar Davido and Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, linking both of them to sensitive issues surrounding the late singer Mohbad and Marlian Music boss Naira Marley.
In a lengthy Facebook post, Olunloyo revisited the 2021 burial ceremony of Tiwa Savage’s father, which attracted several celebrities and top dignitaries. However, she pointed out that two high-profile personalities, Davido and Iyabo Ojo, were noticeably absent from the event. According to her, their absence was not coincidental but was instead tied to ongoing controversies in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
She alleged that Iyabo Ojo deliberately stayed away from the burial because Mohbad was billed to perform at the ceremony. Olunloyo claimed that at the time, the late singer had allegedly uncovered disturbing information involving Ojo, accusing her of sending his wife, Omowunmi, for hook-up activities. This revelation, according to Olunloyo, created tension and was the reason Ojo chose to keep her distance from the public gathering.
Turning her attention to Davido, Olunloyo alleged that the singer intentionally skipped Tiwa Savage’s father’s burial for reasons connected to his rivalry with Marlian Music. She claimed that in 2022, Davido allegedly dispatched his aide, Dre DMW, to approach Zinoleesky with an offer to lure him away from Naira Marley’s label into his own camp, DMW. This alleged move, according to Olunloyo, was a strategic attempt to weaken the rising dominance of Marlian Music, which at that time was achieving massive popularity and commercial success.
She further claimed that this act soured Davido’s relationship with Naira Marley, leading to subtle online clashes. According to Olunloyo, Naira Marley expressed his displeasure by shading Davido in a series of tweets throughout 2024. She insisted that the strained relationship has left both stars on unfriendly terms, with neither party maintaining communication to date.
Olunloyo’s post read in part: “The 2 major celebrities that did not attend Tiwa Savãge’s father’s burial were Davido and Iyabo Ojo. Iyabo avoided due to Mohbad performing. He just found out Iyabo was sending his wife on hookups. Davido, for obvious reasons, sent Dre DMW to Zinoleesky in 2022 to get Zino into DMW. Davido wanted to collapse Marlian Music due to their endless success. This is why NM shaded David in tweets throughout 2024. They do not speak.”
Her claims have since stirred heated debate online, with fans and industry observers divided over the truth of her allegations and the motives behind them.
