Nollywood actor, Ijoba Lande, has raised a serious alarm after revealing that he is currently being targeted by online blackmailers who are using AI-generated content to tarnish his image and extort money from him.
The actor, who is well-known in the Yoruba movie industry, disclosed on his social media page that he recently received a disturbing message from an unknown individual threatening to release a compromising video. According to him, the video was digitally manipulated using artificial intelligence to make it appear as though he was in a hotel room with a married woman.

Lande explained that the blackmailer is demanding the sum of N5 million to prevent the video from being released online. He described the situation as both shocking and heartbreaking, pointing out how advanced technology is now being misused by criminals to blackmail innocent people.
He went further to warn his fans, colleagues, and the general public not to believe any such videos if they come across them, stressing that it is not him but the handiwork of AI technology. The actor stated that this was an attempt to ruin his reputation and force him into paying money under duress.
In his words, he said …
“Person send me one video dey threaten me. Them put me and one married woman for one bed inside hotel. If Una see my naked photo or video, no be me o. Na AI. Them con tell me say make I pay 5 million. This na pure blackmail and I no go gree. I no do wetin them dey accuse me of.”
He also called on Nigerians to be more vigilant and cautious about the growing dangers of AI manipulation, noting that it can be used to frame anyone regardless of status or profession.
Lande emphasized that he would not succumb to the demands of the blackmailer and vowed to take legal steps to address the matter. He further urged law enforcement agencies to investigate such cases as they pose a huge threat to digital safety and personal integrity in society.
The actor’s outcry has since sparked massive reactions on social media, with many users sympathizing with him while also expressing concern about the dangers of deepfake technology being weaponized for criminal purposes.
