In the wake of the passing of veteran Nollywood actor, Olusegun Akinremi, fondly known as Chief Kanran, a remarkable video has recently resurfaced, highlighting his vision for celebrating an impressive 55-year-long career on stage. The footage, which has circulated widely on social media, shows the late actor sharing his aspirations with heartfelt enthusiasm, leaving fans and colleagues deeply moved and reflecting on his legacy in the Nigerian film industry.

During an interview with esteemed broadcast journalist Dele Adeyanju on Agbaletu TV, Chief Kanran spoke candidly about the meticulously planned celebration, which was initially slated for September 2025 but later rescheduled to October to make the event more impactful and memorable. He emphasized that the celebration was not merely for festivities but was meant to mark a significant milestone that would also inspire upcoming talents in the industry.

In addition to commemorating his illustrious career, Chief Kanran shared ambitious plans for a large-scale film city on 75 hectares of land in Ado-Awaye, Oyo State. He envisioned the project as a hub for the Nigerian entertainment industry, designed to attract investors, foster creativity, and provide a platform for filmmakers, actors, and other industry stakeholders both locally and internationally to collaborate and thrive.

“I am looking at October 2025 to celebrate my 55 years on stage, even though it was initially scheduled for September. I want this celebration to be more than just a party; I want it to be meaningful and to establish something lasting that will benefit the industry,” Chief Kanran explained passionately in the interview, his eyes reflecting the dedication and vision he had nurtured over decades of work in Nollywood.

Tragically, the actor’s life was cut short before he could see either the milestone celebration or the film city project come to fruition. His untimely death has reignited conversations about the need for better recognition, support, and infrastructure for veterans and emerging talents in Nigeria’s entertainment sector. Fans and colleagues have expressed sorrow over the loss while simultaneously celebrating his remarkable contributions to stage performance and film, recognizing him as a trailblazer whose influence will be remembered for generations.

Chief Kanran’s legacy, encompassing decades of dedication to acting, mentorship, and the vision of creating a lasting impact through his film city project, continues to inspire industry players and aspiring actors. Social media users have shared tributes, anecdotes, and clips of his interviews, ensuring that his dream and remarkable career are not forgotten, and highlighting the need to preserve and celebrate the contributions of veterans in the Nigerian entertainment landscape.
