Gov Soludo boasts of defeating Peter Obi in his own constituency

Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has once again taken a swipe at the Labour Party (LP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting that both political parties hold little to no influence in the state. Speaking boldly at a victory rally in Nanka organized to celebrate the resounding success of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Soludo maintained that his party had not only defeated the opposition but also humiliated them by winning even in areas considered as the stronghold of their leaders, including Peter Obi’s constituency.

The governor noted that the elections had been deliberately projected by the LP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other opposition figures as a litmus test of their popularity and political relevance in Anambra State. However, according to Soludo, the final outcome sent a clear message that the people of Anambra overwhelmingly preferred APGA, with the opposition unable to make any significant impact despite their combined efforts.

He further mocked Obi’s political strength, pointing out that despite Obi’s support for ADC candidates, the party was unable to make any meaningful headway, insisting that ADC had no real presence in Anambra. Soludo went on to highlight the symbolic victory of APGA in Onitsha North, which he specifically described as Obi’s own constituency, stressing that the result was proof that the opposition had been rejected by the people.

Soludo also emphasized that it was not just Obi who had thrown his weight behind the opposition, but several other prominent figures, including senators and members of the House of Representatives, who collectively rallied against APGA. Nevertheless, their united front failed, as the people of Anambra State chose APGA decisively. The governor stated that this outcome demonstrated that no amount of opposition collaboration could override the will of the people.

According to Soludo, the election was essentially a trial run by ADC to test its political weight in Anambra, but the overwhelming defeat proved that the party had no future in the state. He boasted that APGA’s landslide victory, where it secured about 77 percent of the votes, was a clear demonstration of both the strength of his party and the weakness of the opposition. The governor described this as a loud and clear message that APGA remained the true voice of the Anambra people.
