A Nigerian lady has gone viral after taking to social media to narrate how her housekeeper allegedly stole a total of eight of her wigs and sold them off for an amount that did not even exceed ₦150,000.

The shocking revelation was made public in a series of posts shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @Busayooo_b. In her updates, she explained how she initially suspected that six wigs had gone missing but after checking carefully, she discovered that the actual number of stolen wigs was eight in total.

To make matters worse, further inquiries revealed that the housekeeper had wasted no time in disposing of the wigs. She had already sold every single one of them for a collective amount that fell short of ₦150,000 — a price far below their actual market value. Busayooo_b expressed her disbelief at how undervalued the items were sold despite their worth.

She backed up her claims with both a short video clip showing the housekeeper as well as images of one of the missing wigs. According to her, “She sold all of them already o. She didn’t even get up to 150k for the 8 wigs she stole.”

As her posts gained attention, many social media users rushed to the comment section to share their own opinions and experiences. Some sympathized with her, some condemned the act of theft, while others criticized the decision to bring the matter online instead of handling it privately.

See some reactions below:

@_Petertech: “From her appearance, you’d know that she sell them to solve a problem. But there is no justification for stealing. If you can please forgive.”

@MokejiB: “Jesus 😭. How she take steal am reach 6 before you notice.”

@Pearlskitchen4: “Just imagine this people are so wicked that’s how one was stealing all my food stuffs till I caught her.”

@AmoriGuineafowl: “6 wigs?? With the amount wigs are sold now?? God abeg o.”

@MamaStallion: “Nigerians need to understand that the only real difference between you and someone else is luck. You have no right to look down on anyone, because you haven’t lived their experience and you don’t know what kind of person you would become, if you were in their situation.”

@Realvin2: “It is unnecessary posting her online, ordinary looking at her ,she is passing through a lot as a mother.”

@PilotMKO: “Without being sentimental and not try to judge you even if she did what she did tbh with you this woman doesn’t deserve to be humiliated by bringing her online because of a wig, the very woman looks like she’s doing that to feed her family which the salary or whatever you’re.”

@Uchechukwu_Jeny: “That was how my friend’s maid was stealing her clothes, she didn’t notice, till the woman stole her wedding wig, when she was searching everywhere for her wig, that was when she discovered her clothes were missing, the worst is that she was not even remorseful at all.”

@Ann_Blend: “This is a terrible person. Please sack her and make her see the police before she hurts you directly.”

The story has since sparked debates online, with many questioning whether exposing the housekeeper publicly was the right decision, while others stressed that the act of stealing cannot be justified regardless of the motive. The incident serves as a reminder of the growing distrust between employers and domestic staff, as more people recount similar experiences of theft in their homes.
