According to her, the young Nigerian man, who is from the Igbo tribe, presented himself as a loving and committed partner during their relationship. However, after the wedding, his true intentions began to surface. The American woman insists that not only was she deceived by him, but his family was also complicit in the scheme, either by actively supporting him or by silently enabling his fraudulent actions.

In her emotional outburst, the woman revealed how devastated she felt by the betrayal, stressing that it was particularly painful because the man’s father was a deacon in church. She questioned how a family that publicly professed strong Christian values could allow such deception to happen. In her words:

“His father is a deacon at church and raising a monster like this. How do you go to church and pray to God and then you’re taking money from me, and you marry me under false pretence?”

She went further to detail the financial toll the relationship has had on her, disclosing that she lost about $80,000 (over ₦120 million). She explained that she provided him with financial support throughout the marriage, ensuring he lived comfortably, but was later shocked to find out he had been entertaining other women behind her back. She also accused his sister of enabling his behaviour and warned that he is still on the hunt for more unsuspecting victims.

“Till my last breath, I’m going to make sure this Igbo man, his sister, and his family pay for what they did to me. You don’t take my money, eighty thousand dollars. I made sure you were taken care of, you eat good, live good, and then you’re gonna go ahead and entertain other Igbo women, and then your sister… people should be careful because he is looking for the next victim.”

Her story has sparked widespread reactions online, with many social media users sympathising with her while others criticised her for ignoring possible red flags in the relationship. The incident also reignites conversations about cross-cultural marriages, financial exploitation in relationships, and the dangers of manipulation under the guise of love and family approval.
